About football packages with West Ham

West Ham United FC, or The Hammers, as the club is often called, is one of the many great football clubs of London. Throughout the years, West Ham has often been in the English top division. The days of glory for the club were during the 1960’s, when it was one of the best teams in England and Europe. Back then, players such as Bobby Moore, Martin Peters and Geoff Hurst were active in the team.

A football trip with West Ham is easiest to book via a travel agency which specializes in football trips. You’ll then get game tickets and hotel, or game tickets, hotel and flights, in a package. If you want to arrange tickets by yourself you can visit West Ham’s website, buy tickets at the stadium or do it over the phone.

West Ham United was formed in 1895 under the name Thames Ironworks FC. There were many steel industries in the West Ham part of London during this time, hence the name. In the year 1900 the club changed its name to West Ham United Football Club. West Ham has achieved four great merits since it was founded. The club has won the FA Cup three times, and also emerged victorious in the UEFA Cup Winners Cup of 1965. They have, however, not won any League titles so far.

Other things to do in London

The neighborhood called West Ham is home to many of the facilities that were used in the London Summer Olympics of 2012. There is much to see here, and you also have the rest of London to explore either before or after the game – or perhaps both. It is difficult to be bored in London.

Briefly about Upton Park

If you’re a West Ham United fan, you’re certain to enjoy the mighty feeling of seeing them play on their home turf at the Olympic Stadium in northeast London. This is English football at its best, and you can enjoy the atmosphere with thousands of other fans.

About the Olympic Stadium

The Olympic Stadium was build for the 2012 Summer Olympics and the Paralympics in London, and is located in Stratford in eastern London. After the olympics, there were plenty of interested parties who wanted to take over the arena, but West Ham were eventually successful. Renovating the arena took a few years, and it wasn’t until the 2016/2017 season that the team started playing their home games there.

The Olympic Stadium’s History

West Ham was founded in 1895, and played their home games at Boley Ground (also known as Upton Park) from 1904. The arena, with seats for 35,016 fans, was refurbished and renovated a number of times, but after 112 years, it was time to move to the Olympic Stadium – with double the capacity at 60,000.

The club has signed a 99 year lease for the arena, and sold season tickets for the 2016/2017 season, which is a positive sign that the move has gone well. However, they have to hold their place in the Premier League to be able to cover the enormous costs.

Transport

The easiest way to get to the arena is by tube. The closest station are Stratford and Stratford International, and you can get to the arena in less than 40 minutes from most major stations in London.

If travelling by car, the arena is about a 25 minute drive from the M25 – the London ring – and an hour’s drive from all of London’s international airports.
