About football packages with Queens Park Rangers

Queens Park Rangers FC is one of the smaller football clubs in London. What’s interesting is that they have played their home games on no less than 20 different fields and stadiums through the years.

Loftus Road is a very small stadium – actually the smallest in Premier League – which results in game tickets being sold out quickly. You can book tickets online or by telephone, but the best choice is to book through a Swedish travel agent. You’ll then also get the chance to book flights and hotel in the same package.

Queens Park Rangers Football Club was founded in 1882 as one of the first football clubs in London. The founding was done in the form of a unification of the teams St Jude’s and Christchurch Rangers. Since most of the players came from the neighborhood Queen’s Park, it was only natural that the newly formed club was to be called Queens Park Rangers. QPR isn’t really one of the most merited clubs in England, but they can brag about one League Cup title (1967) and a place in the FA Cup finals (1982). During the 1990’s, QPR experienced a crisis, both in terms of the sport and financially, but thanks to a welcome contribution from the new owners Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone (known from Formula 1), QPR is now a healthier club.

Other things to do in London

London is a world metropole, which means that there are plenty of experiences and activities for everyone. Why not pay a visit to the world famous British Museum or take a peek at the wax sculptures at Madame Tussauds?

Briefly about Loftus Road

Queens Park Rangers – also known as QPR – is one of England’s oldest clubs and has plenty of traditions and history. The home turf at Loftus Road in London is a big part of the club’s story, and they have played their home games there for 100 years.

Loftus Road seats 18,439 spectators, which might not seem like a whole lot compared to other English arenas, although the attendance record is mcu higher than the actual capacity. In 1974, there were 35,353 fans watching the game against Leeds United.

Loftus Road’s History

Loftus Road opened its doors in 1904, but it has not always been the home of QPR. The club was founded in 1882 and started out playing their home games at a long list of arenas, before establishing itself at Loftus Road in 1917, taking over from Shepherd’s Bush FC.

It seems that QPR are set to stay at Loftus Road. This year, it’s been 100 years since they entered the field in White City. They have played at the arena ever since then, with just a few exceptions (seasons 1931/1932 and 1932/1933, where they played at White City Stadium). In 1962/1963, they also left Loftus Road, but soon got homesick and returned home during the season.

Transport

Loftus Road is located about 6 miles from London’s city centre. From there, you have plenty of options to get to the arena, like the A40 if you are travelling by car, which will take just 20 minutes without too much traffic.

If you prefer, you can take the tube and walk. From Charing Cross, you can take the brown line towards Bakerloo and get off at Oxford Circus. From there, take the red line towards Northolt and alight at White City Station, where it’s just a 10 minute walk to Loftus Road. All in all, it will take you less than half an hour to get there.
