About football packages with Liverpool

Liverpool FC is the most merited club in England. With eighteen League titles, seven wins in the FA Cup, eight League Cup golds, five victories in the European Cup/Champions League and three golds in the UEFA Cup, Liverpool is just ahead of Manchester United in terms of medals won.

Liverpool splits their home games into three categories. The tickets for games in category A are the most expensive, while the tickets for category C games are the cheapest. For the really big games it can be very difficult to get a hold of tickets, even if you are a member of the official fan club. The best choice is to book game tickets together with hotel and perhaps a flight in a package trip. If you really love Liverpool, you should try to get a hold of a ticket on the legendary stand called The Kop.

Liverpool may have lost some of the stardom it had during the 70’s and 80’s, but the club now seems to be on the right track again. With stars such as Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard, there is much quality. Gerrard together with Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen and Fernando Torres are some of the biggest stars in recent years.

Other things to do in Liverpool

Liverpool is not a particularly big city, and it is easy to get around on foot. Some of the attractions that you can’t miss are the cozy neighborhoods around Albert Dock, the magnificent Anglican cathedral, and the two museums called Liverpool Museum and Merseyside Maritime Museum. If you are a fan of The Beatles, then you will surely get your fill in Liverpool.

Briefly about Anfield

Few stadiums in the world are as shrouded in mystery as Anfield in Liverpool. The stadium is situated at one end of Stanley Park (the home field of Everton, Goodison Park, is at the other end), a few kilometers east of central Liverpool.

Facts about Anfield

Anfield can today hold 45,276 spectators, but the record attendance is significantly higher than that. In a FA Cup game against Wolverhampton in 1952, 61,905 people showed up. Anfield is ranked as a four star stadium by UEFA, which is slightly below world class.

Stadium History

Football of the highest level has been played at Anfield ever since 1884. It might sound strange since Liverpool FC wasn’t formed until 1892, but the fact of the matter is that Everton, which was founded in 1884, used Anfield as its home stadium initially. However, when a dispute between the club and the landlord about the rent blossomed up, Everton moved to Goodison Park.

The first game that Liverpool played at Anfield was against Rotherham. They won the game with 7-1. 1893 Liverpool played its first season in the English top division. Back then, the stadium could take approximately 5,000 spectators.

From the end of the 1800’s up until now, the capacity has been increased in stages. In 1906 the famous stand Spion Kop, or just The Kop, was built. In 1928 it was expanded to be able to hold over 30,000 spectators, and today the stand only consists of seats. Despite this, not many people remain seated when You’ll Never Walk Alone booms out across the stadium.

Between 1963 and 1973 Anfield was greatly modernized. The old main stand was torn down completely in favor of a new one. During the 1980’s, they also started to remake all stands to be seated only. The latest modification was done in 1998 when a second section of the Anfield Road Stand was built.

Communications

If you are in Central Liverpool, Anfield is within walking distance. The stadium is in a residential area about three kilometers east of the center. There are also several bus lines that run between central Liverpool and Anfield.
